_heads_up - WOLFMOTHER BREAK UP!
We’re always with our finger on the pulse here at triplejaysus, and today is no exception, with the breaking news that WOLFMOTHER are breaking up! ( Well, sort of.) Bass player / organist Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett leave to focusing their energies on material for an exciting new project, the details of which are to come in the near future Modular announced earlier.
Singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale will carry on Wolfmother and has our full support as we now embark on Wolfmother - Phase II. Lets hope he has better luck that Axl did when keeping the moniker of a much-loved rock band. I doubt people would wait 13 years for the latest distillation of Black Sabbath from Sydneysider Stockdale.
I am reminded of Eddie van Halen’s comments after Diamond Dave left for the third time - “He suffers from LSD - Lead Singers Disease.” Nice one Eddie.

Burial Revealed!
So Burial isn’t Banksy! Man, if he was banksy he’d have been THE coolest person to take other peoples art and make it into capital a art. But he’s not. So move on, this isn’t a photo opportunity.
Turns out that the enigmatic dubstep champion is will bevan. I refrain from using capitals in respect of the artist currently known as Burial. In a statement on his myspace page he made the announcement in quite a low key sort of way:
hi
for a while theres been some talk about who i am , but its not a big deal
i wanted to be unknown because i just want it to be all about the tunes.
over the last year the unknown thing become an issue so im not into it any more.
im a lowkey person and i just want to make some tunes, nothing else. my names will bevan, im from south london, im keeping my head down and just going to finish my next album, theres going to be a 12″ maybe in the next few weeks too with 4 tunes. hope u like it, i’ll try put a tune up later
sorry for any rubbish tunes i made in the past, ill make up for it
a big big thank you to anyone who ever supported me, liked my tunes or sent me messages, it means the world to me
big up everyone, take care, will ( burial )
It’s a well timed unveiling, what with will being short listed for the Mercuty Music Prize this year, and I don’t mind going on the record to say that I don’t care who Burial is - his music rocks. ( Not in a triple-rock sort of way though)
Good on ya will, you’re okay.

Tom Waits - Glitter and Doom Tour
Hey guess what Kids - we love us some Tom Waits round these here parts. But then again, I guess that’s hardly news. ( If that is news then I gotta tell ya buddy, you need to get out less.)
As the Glitter and Doom Tour draws to a close in Dublin this weekend, those kind people over at NPRhave managed to finally harness the power of the interweb for good, and recorded the 2 and a half hour show at Atlanta’s historic Fox Theater on July 5 and made it available for all.
The set contains tracks that Waits hasn’t tried out of the studio, including “Hoist that Rag”, “Anywhere I Lay My Head” and triplejaysus favourite “All the World Is Green”. Backing Waits is a five-piece group featuring Seth Ford-Young (upright bass), Patrick Warren (keyboards), Omar Torrez (guitars), Vincent Henry (woodwinds) and Casey Waits (drums and percussion).
“They play with racecar precision and they are all true conjurers,” says Waits. “They are all multi-instrumentalists and they polka like real men.”
You can get the entire show here.

Metallica - Death Magnetic
Metallica confirmed the tracklist for their Rick Rubin produced September release ‘Death Magnetic’. The hirsute cover image was unveiled weeks ago at Mission Metallica (!) and is supposed to be iron filings in magnetic fields - presumably death magnetic fields. ROCK!
In a world first, songs from Death Magnetic will be available to download and play on Guitar Hero III the day the album is released. DOUBLE ROCK!
You can even buy a cool box set, shaped like a coffin! That’s less ROCK than I’d hoped. Really should have thought that one through. Anyway, the Tracklist:
“That Was Just Your Life”
“The End Of The Line”
“Broken, Beat & Scarred”
“The Day That Never Comes”
“All Nightmare Long”
“Cyanide”
“The Unforgiven III” (TRIPLE ROCK!)
“The Judas Kiss”
“Suicide & Redemption”
“My Apocalypse”
The thing is, I’m quite happy that they’ve gone all out 80’s. That whole ‘work through your anger’ nonsense has no place in ROCK!. Only ROCK belongs in ROCK!
So lets ROCK!

_heads_up - Bon Iver Live!
Those crazy kids over at daytrotter have done it again - they’ve managed to jag another beautiful recording from an artiste du jour (certaintly round these parts).
Bon Iver deliver 4 tracks from the haunting For Emma, Forever Ago, with some extra percussion and additional guitar work fleshing out the tracks nicely.
You can get them ( and heaps of other cool stuff ) here.
