Muscles - GUNS BABES LEMONADE

Those who know me know that I don’t take living in this beautiful country for granted. Those that don’t know me should know one thing - I don’t take living in this beautiful country for granted. I love living in Australia, I love living in Sydney, and I especially love living on Clovelly. Almost every weekend I think to myself “Look where I live“. This is perfect, everything else is gravy.

This weekends gravy is likely to come in the form of my recent favourite Aussie one man band. Muscles joins a distinguished list of talented Aussies making sweet music, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Gotye and Faux Pas - both briliant artists.

Muscles was a big hit at this years Park Life, and his debut album Guns Babes Lemonade is out this weekend on Modular. I have been keeping an eye on Muscles since I heard Icecream back in February, and have picked up the odd remix here and there. So have a listen to these infectious floor fillers and enjoy before you stop by JBI HiFi and pick up the album.

Kerkko Koskinen - Agatha

I reluctantly joined Facebook recently. My myspace lasted about 10 days before I got bored of all the ego rubbing. I’m as ‘Hurrah-for-me’ as the next guy with a podcast/blog/keen sense of irony, but I don’t need to collect ‘friends’. But I digress.

So there I was, naked in front of the computer, counting all my facebook friends, when I staggered on a list of groups that are out there. The list is ..well, I don’t actually know how long really, I got as far as ‘A’. Agatha Christe Appreciation Group. I must investigate. (Snigger snigger)

It was trolling through this group that I spotted the album Agatha. Finnish Composer / musician Kerkko Koskinen has scored a soundtrack to imagination. And it’s right up my street – I love it. UMO Jazz Orchestra lead by Verneri Pohjola  deliver an album that is instantly pleasing but also something much deeper. Repeated listens reveal different avenues to explore, different leads to follow. With each listen you find a different candle stick in the drawing room, as it were.

If I ever hold a murder mystery night at my house, hope to be the corpse, because you get to listen to this whole album laying in a pool of warm fake blood. Is there a greater joy I ask?

A little over 24 hours after In Rainbows was made available the remixes started popping up on the net. This one, by Mojib, is a remix of the albums closer Videotape. So it looks like _radio_update continues.
