OUTRAGE!!

OUTRAGE – REUNION OUTRAGE
(AND THAT’S THE WORST KIND!)
Anyone know of a good T Shirt printer? I want one that reads “TOO MANY REUNIONS”. It seems that every second day there is another exciting announcement that some long since past-it band is getting together again for some of that over priced and over croweded ATM reunioun tour dollar.
When The Police announced their reunion, most folks were mildly excited at the prospect of seeing them live. Granted the $200 price tag meant that I don’t know anyone who’s actually going, but there was no sour taste in your mouth about that.
Everyone is genuinely excited about not being able to afford to see Led Zepplin play again - but HEY, that’s for charity so good on ya lads. Dave Grohl has held his hand up and said that he is at their beck and call. Good man Dave. Glad to see you’re doing something good, because ‘Echoes , Silence, Patience and Grace’ is AWFUL! Smashing Pumpkins got back together - nothing too offensive there.
In a recent post I shared the news that Van Halen will reunite minus Michael Anthony. Not surprising really, it looks like Wolfgang ate him. Where we really get a high reading on the sphincter scale is not the Spice Girls (Who cares?) or EMF (WTF?) reuniting but news that The Sex Pistols will not only reunite, but they’re rerecording ‘Anarchy in the UK’ for Guitar Hero III (That’s a video game.) They’re still calling it ‘Anarchy’ though, right?

Les Savy Fav – Lets Stay Friends
Following rumours of the band splitting up (after anumber of solo projects), Lets Stay Friends could be considered the perfect title for a swan song album. (Swan album?) Thankfully, any though of this is laid to rest in the closing line of the first track. ‘Pots & Pans‘ ends with: “Let’s tear this whole place down and build it up again/ This band’s a beating heart and it’s nowhere near its end.”
Les Savy Fav have always been stylistic chameleons, and that hasn’t changed on this album. Flitting from sixties flavoured sweet harmonies to Kurt inspired refrains to smooth Beach Boy choruses is style du jour here, as ‘The Equestrian’ illustrates perfectly.
There is a great deal more than initially meets the ear on Lets Stay Friends. The album is littered with pithy lyrics and clever song titles. ‘What Wolves Would Do’ has a catchy chorus that takes on a new meaning when you consider the song name.
Les Savy Friends thankfully stays clear of the ‘catchy hit of the summer’ trap it could so easily have fallen into. It is up beat rough and tumble popunk, but its rougher edges will keep it off anything but triple j.
THINK: Pixies meet Nirvana in the sixties
READ: The bands homepage and myspace
WATCH: Patty Lee and The Equestrian clips

EDIT - One thing I feel I should point out - Les Savy Fav sound SO different than they look!

_heads_up - Radiohead tease further…
posted @ 5:15 pm in [ _Radio_update - _heads up ]

I’m used to Radiohead being ahead of the gang. They were always at the coalface with their music, their videos and their marketing. How disappointment then, that with their latest teaser, I can’t help thinking about Trent.
Yesterday on their webpage, a series of strange frown bearing boxy wavers appeared. All in a row. Through the power of the internet, and all things geek, I can now tell you that the initial message was a ‘cryptogram’. oooOOOoooh! That initial message spelled out the further cryptic message “Yes, WeAre Still Alive”
Then today the above appeared, and it appears to be lyrics:
Blink Your
Eyes
OneforYes
TwoforNo
Code
Code
Code
I am trying to believe…..that this isn’t another conspiracy theory cryptogram thing. That’s just So year zero!
